Hat's off to the Dads....

With Father’s Day right around the corner, I spent my morning walk thinking about the many fathers out there and the importance of their roles in our kids’ lives. I do my best to steer away from any preconceived notions about what it is to father a child (as well as to mother a child). My Dad was a key role model in my life, but he couldn’t have been more different than my spouse and the father of our kids. These distinctive styles have considerably impacted my life and my kids in a positive manner, and they have taught me that parents are simply individuals with strengths and lessons that should be shared with their kids.

What’s significant here is that parents need to appreciate their qualities as well as their partners, learn from each other, maximize their assets, and understand their shortcomings and that their roles can change over time. Parenting takes two (or more) to be successful. Thank you, Dads, for all that you do to positively impact kids and our society.
