Practice makes perfect
Generally, we are all comfortable with the idea that the more we practice a sport the better an athlete we will become. This notion carries over to many areas of our lives – from parenting to playing a musical instrument. In addition, this concept is true in our professional lives, yet often we are not as comfortable ‘practicing’ skills at work because the fear of failure holds us back.
Creating a work environment where practicing skills (old or new) is rewarded and encouraged will allow employees to perform at their highest level. Especially in our current times of changing working environments, all employees need to feel at ease when they are communicating virtually or collaborating with a team to solve a problem. Foster a culture of ‘practice makes perfect’ by leading by example. While no one is really perfect, practicing can certainly bring out the best in us.
