A new year like no other...
Well, we almost made it through 2020. While I’m not big on New Year’s resolutions (as they always seem to go by the wayside a month into the year), what last year taught me is that setting intentions for yourself can keep you focused and at peace.
For 2021, I think it’s important to set a few simple goals that will keep you centered. My intentions for 2021 are:
- Love yourself and others: we saw many examples of the power of love and caring in 2020 with healthcare workers, first responders, and pharmaceutical companies diligently working to save people’s lives, people and organizations donating food to those who were without, and individuals providing random acts of kindness.
- Work with passion: no matter what you do for living, it’s important to find something every day that brings you joy in your work and at home. It could be as simple as smiling at someone who looks like they need it or being kind to someone you work with by listening to what they have to say. We all would be better off if we found joy in the little things in life.
- Stay focused on what’s important: with all the changes we’ve had to endure, not seeing loved ones, missing our friends, and most of all loss, we can become so despondent that it’s hard to bounce back. Focus on the things that are important to you, like spending more time with your children/spouse, taking long walks with friends or dogs, and enjoying the natural world around us,
With 2021 right around the corner, you can empower yourself to focus on what’s essential and joyful. Happy New Year!
