What's the difference?
So often in marketing, we are asked to communicate what makes ‘our brand’ different. While differentiation is important, it’s even more critical to clearly communicate how you solve a problem and what value you offer.
Your product may be very different from others, but if it doesn’t solve a problem for your customers, you cannot deliver value. I am a Board Director for STEM for Her, a non-profit that promotes education to create awareness, excitement and opportunities among girls and young women to launch successful STEM-related careers. We are different from other organizations as we provide education for and promote all STEM areas rather than focus on one area of STEM, but more significantly it’s the value we offer to young women and our broader community. By delivering hands-on experiences and mentoring opportunities to drive more women to pursue and obtain STEM related careers, we help meet the needs of our broader society to fill these roles and ultimately benefit our economy and quality of life.
